David HarveyDavid joined the Coburn Ventures team as COO in June of 2005 to help clear weeds on the ground and assist in providing some aerial guidance on the operational direction of the firm. He is thrilled to be part of the effort to bring great ideas and outstanding value to our clients
Prior to Coburn Ventures, David worked as President and COO of Grange Park Capital, where in 2002 he helped launch and then ran the business side of that $400M hedge fund, including risk management, trade clearance and reconciliation, investor reporting, accounting, and the occasional fill in role as trader.
In his life before the hedge fund world, David served the reinsurance community as both a broker and underwriter specializing in structured financial reinsurance, most recently at The Hartford, where he was recruited as part of a small team to establish a structured reinsurance practice as both the head of marketing and as a structured product and catastrophe excess of loss underwriter.
After training at Lloyds of London in the late-80s, heading a specialty practice in Copenhagen in the late-90’s, and establishing a wholly owned subsidiary firm in Mexico City in 1994, David has been left with a love of travel that he indulges with his wife and family at every possible opportunity.
David graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in International Economics, conversational French from a semester abroad, a letter in fencing, and the privilege of watching the Nittany Lions win two National Championships.
